Annie and Sean O'Grady had lived in the cottage all their married lives and, though they had no children, they were blissfully happy. Then things started to go wrong. First Sean died and then Annie was served notice to quit, but how could she take Sean's apple tree with her? Annie's life was in turmoil, then her old friend Seamus came up with a plan ... Gerry's story, Primroses, which won the 2005 International Cuírt Award for new writing at Galway Arts Centre, Ireland - read by actress, Kate O’Toole, daughter of Peter O’Toole, at the award ceremony in Charlie Byrne’s bookshop, Galway. An elderly man comes to the rescue of a young girl, who is very grateful and wants to help him plant primroses in the garden. All innocent enough, but his daughter can see how things might look to outsiders. As he wrestles with the problem, long-dormant memories come flooding back and, eventually, he makes his mind up. Gerry has had many stories and poems printed in various magazines, in two books of short stories, broadcast on BBC radio, and has had more than 30 of her Old Seamus Irish stories published in 'Ireland's Own' magazine, from Waterford. Her first full-length novel, 'Belfast Girls', was published in November 2010 by Night Publishing, UK, and is available on Amazon.com in paperback & Kindle formats.
